Process
The studio is where ideas take form—a place for clay, light, and quiet experimentation. Each piece moves through a slow, intentional rhythm of forming, drying, sanding, and firing.
I work primarily in mid-fire stoneware, blending and layering clays to create natural tonal variation and subtle pattern. Many surfaces are left unglazed and hand-sanded, allowing the material itself to remain visible.
Clay + surface
Surface begins in the clay itself. By blending and layering clay bodies, then cutting, sanding, waxing, or selectively glazing them, I create tonal shifts and marks that remain part of the form rather than sitting on top of it.
Light + structure
For the lighting collection, I collaborate with designer and craftsman Mark Figueredo. His experience in lighting, glass, and fabrication brings a technical and architectural perspective to each piece.
Mark develops the internal structures, metal components, and assembly details that allow the ceramic forms to function beautifully as light. The collaboration creates a balance between material and engineering—work that feels considered from the inside out.
